Reggie Alvarez

The idea of the Gideon Gang is close to my heart. So many young people in our area of Brooklyn live in very difficult circumstances, but God provides hope where there seems to be no hope. I am now a children and youth minister in one of the largest multicultural churches in New York. People all know my story with Atlantic Bridge because it caused a profound change in my life and in my view of missions. In 1999 I was a traveling missionary with Atlantic Bridge and for a whole year I ministered in schools in Europe. Although it was very difficult for me being black in a white culture, it was also enriching as I was able to break many negative and untrue stereo-types about my race while sharing the gospel of Christ and learning so many beautiful things about the Netherlands, The Czech Republic and the many other places I visited. I have joined the Gideon Gang because I want to see this mission continue.”
